Rock Climbing
The mountains of Western Canada have endless rock climbing of all varieties. Around the Bow Valley, where I live, we have limestone and quartzite cliffs to climb on. If you head West to the Bugaboos there are granite spires that tower over 3000m. Further West, at Skaha in the Okanagan, you will find gneiss. On the Coast of Western Canada, in Squamish, large granite cliffs loom above. Each area has it's own beauty and style of climbing. I have rock climbed all over the world and one of my favourite places to go is at the back of Lake Louise, just down the road from where I live. The picture above is taken there on one of the classic climbs - Wicked Gravity.
Whether you're interested in experiencing rock climbing for the first time, learning more advanced skills or climbing multi-pitch routes I can tailor a trip to your needs. Some examples of rock courses are:
- Intro to rock climbing
- Indoor gyms to outdoor rock transition
- Lead climbing, anchor building
- Placing gear/trad climbing

Multi-pitch Guided Climbs:
There are many beautiful multi-pitch rock climbs in the Rockies of all grades. Some of my favourites are on Mt Yamnuska ("wall of stone"), Haling Peak, Mt Rundle and Guides Rock - all within a 30 min drive of Canmore.
Rope Rescue:
If you do a lot of multi-pitch rock climbing then you might want to consider learning how to rescue your partner if something goes wrong. This 1-day course teaches you everything you need to know about getting you and your partner out of trouble - escaping the belay, raising, lowering, tandem rapelling.
